OC Fashion Week 2017 Day 3 Fashion Show at SOKA Review

Designer Tatiana Shabelnik at OC Fashion Week Day 3 Fashion Show at SOKA University reviewed by Fab Finds Guide Orange County

Designer Tatiana Shabelnik showcased her collection at Day 3 of OCFW at SOKA

Orange County Fashion Week 2017 produced it's Day 3 fashion show at SOKA University in Aliso Viejo, Ca. As fashion press and blogger, we were kindly invited to attend the event showcasing up and coming international and local fashion design talent. While much different from the production elements and draw of the higher profile fashion shows we are used to attending (Mercedes Benz Fashion Week LA/NYC, LA Fashion Week, Betsey Johnson, Marni, etc.) we commend OCFW for taking on the challenge of a fashion week production.

As a former fashion show room/fashion PR agency owner, I know all to personally how much time and effort goes into producing a multi designer fashion week show and give a huge kudos to anyone attempting to pull a full weeks production together.

One of the more eccentric designers of the evening was Tatiana Shabelnik of Belorussia, whose flowing collection of cocktail couture was a mix of femininity and whimsical elements inspired by wearable art and the bright colors common in fashion from her native land.

One of our favorite collections of the evening was on the more edgy side. Designer BERENICE GONZALEZ showcased a more Gothic glam collection of cocktail and evening wear with a nod to a Dominatrix influence. While many of her looks could easily be ready-to-wear, the bolder looks are better left for runway.

OC Fashion Week was sponsored by Lamborghini Newport Beach ( a likeness to the Mercedes Benz presenting sponsorship of the original Fashion Week) and had a few of our faves as fashion & beauty sponsors. Amazing Lash of Monarch Beach was among the beauty service sponsors and provided their amazing lash services for the models. Pardon My French Nail Salon was also a beauty service sponsor.

All in all, it was great effort by the designers and their collections. The production could use improvement and is still in its infancy as far as fashion weeks go. We would love to see more established designers from a mix of local and regional platforms, as well as a tighter vetted guest list that included traditional as well as fashion media, big brand buyers, and targeted boutique owners to make it more of a true fashion event vs. a ticketed "something to do in OC" type event. But we're #justsayin.
